President Omar al-Beshir reshuffled a body in charge of southern Sudan's local government, breefing up the influence of his ruling party, the press reported last Sunday.

Beshir appointed 14 new ministers and 13 advisers in the Southern States Coordination Council (SSCC), which was created after the 1997 Sudan peace agreement, the SUNA news agency reported.
A majority of newcomers are from the ruling National Congress (NC) party, and the reshuffle comes after Beshir in December appointed NC member Riek Gai to head the body.
A senior official of the opposition National Democratic Salvation Front NDSF), an umbrella group of loyalist southern parties, complained it was being squeezed out of the SSCC by NIF regime.
